Carborundum PRINTS
Radically different to etching or lithography, carborundum printmaking forces the artist to re-evaluate their mark-making process and to cultivate new ways of approaching the print matrix.
After exploring carborundum prints for the first time in the late 2020s, Brian Michael Clarke has since taken to the medium with enthusiasm and has quickly developed a unique body of work.
In brief, the carborundum process has lead him to embrace the boldness the medium naturally cultivates and so define a new formal grammar which builds upon his long history of drawing in print and resounds with a new and spirited note of expressive urgency.
